A classic in choreographer Gisèle Vienne's repertoire since its creation in 2017, CROWD is an intense immersion into a rave party where movement and fiction resonate together. The performance is both an aesthetic shock and an experience of time. A jubilant and hypnotic emotional rollercoaster.
ETUDE 7 [d’après CROWD] is a kind of negative in which the experience is shared by three characters marked by loss and a vital need for the crowd. In a set-up that is constantly being redesigned for unusual spaces, Gisèle Vienne re-examines the mechanisms of CROWD – including the music – in search of what drives it: politics through artistic and philosophical issues, through formal research, but also through questioning culturally constructed perception and its possible shifts. It is a direct and visceral response to an immediate and profound pain, that of bodies hindered and constrained by politics and its systems of domination.
