“Entire artistic movements have adopted African forms and aesthetics, refining them and then reproposing them, very often without citing their source, thus launching dazzling careers.” “Vol” (means theft and flight in French) then, in the sense of stealing, but also in the sense of taking flight, because the traditional Shona song on which the choreography is based is music that lifts the spirit to a dimension that should give pause to those who are convinced of the objective superiority of the Western culture."

This is how Roberto Castello describes this short, spellbinding performance, which he defines as a sincere tribute to Southern African cultures, using dance that – thanks to Ilenia Romano, with whom and for whom the choreography was created – like a robbery, leaves a feeling of void after the landing.
