A table, some fruit, a plant, a tea pot, and a woman sitting still. The shot goes dark, comes back on, and goes dark. The objects change place, and, imperceptibly, the woman does too. Things follow one after another, someone else appears, but the scene never loses its mystery or its unsettling simplicity.
Playing with the illusion and diffraction of time, the visible and invisible movements of the bodies subtly change space and our perception. Like a still life suddenly inhabited by the living, Katia-Marie Germain composes a chiaroscuro that draws the gaze and plunges it into a dream one never wants to escape.
