Old men in reverse are trying to recapture their youth by replacing their legs and recomposing their anatomies. Equivocal creatures defying definition... And suddenly they bolt, moving strangely, sliding, crawling like a looming terror, stalling. Staring at us from behind.
This beautiful piece broaches the theme of blurred physical appearances and the troubling shift between the physicality of the body and the demise of the face, as well as the illogical connections between masculine and feminine, artificiality and authenticity.
Presented at the Festival in 2007, this piece by Mette Ingvartsen has not aged a bit and still succeeds in delighting the audience with its shady humour and power to disrupt!
